Beaches
Sand, surf, and where to park
The Vineyard has more beach than a week can hold. Here’s a short, honest list of the ones worth planning a day around, with notes on how to get there without a car.
South Beach (Katama)
The big Atlantic beach. Real waves, long shoreline, easy bike from Edgartown.
Joseph Sylvia State Beach
The bridge jump, the long flat stretch between Oak Bluffs and Edgartown, and the easiest beach to bike to.
Inkwell Beach
A short walk from Circuit Avenue in Oak Bluffs. Calm water, family-friendly, and a deep community history.
Lambert’s Cove
Soft sand and quieter afternoons on the north shore. Resident parking in peak season; check before driving.
Moshup Beach
Below the Aquinnah Cliffs. Wilder, more dramatic, and worth the walk from the parking area.
